Amazon's image technical requirements haven't changed dramatically in 2026, but enforcement has tightened and the gap between compliant listings and optimised listings has widened. Here's the full picture.

Hero image requirements (strictly enforced)

  • Pure white background: RGB 255,255,255. Not off-white, not light grey.
  • Product must fill 85–100% of the image frame
  • No additional text, graphics, or logos on the image itself
  • No watermarks, borders, or decorative elements
  • No mannequins for apparel (unless absolutely necessary)
  • No placeholder or "lifestyle" images — must be the actual product

Supporting image requirements (more flexible)

  • Minimum 1000px on the longest side (1600px+ recommended for zoom)
  • JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or GIF format (JPEG preferred)
  • RGB colour mode (not CMYK)
  • No nudity, offensive content, or non-Amazon logos
  • Images must accurately represent the product for sale

Amazon recommends 2000×2000px minimum for all images. Our 4K generation outputs exceed this at 3840×2160, giving you full zoom capability.

AI-generated images policy

Amazon's current guidance permits AI-assisted imagery provided the images accurately represent your product. The key compliance test: would a buyer receiving the product feel the image accurately represented what they purchased? If yes, you're compliant.

Beyond compliance: what top listings do

Compliant images are the starting point. What separates compliant from top-performing:

  • Shot at 4K+ resolution with room to crop for different aspect ratios
  • Consistent lighting and colour temperature across all 7 images
  • Mobile-optimised compositions (key content in the 600×600 centre crop)
  • Alt text optimised for accessibility and search (when available)
